How to resize a photo or signature

  1. Choose your photograph or signature image in JPG, PNG or WebP format.
  2. Select a starting preset or enter exact width and height in pixels. Choose crop-to-fill or fit-inside based on the form's rules.
  3. Download the resized image, check the dimensions and file size, and confirm they match the application portal's instructions.

Use the dimensions specified by your application

Government forms, college applications, admit cards and job portals can require different pixel dimensions, aspect ratios, file formats and KB limits. Filefit's built-in presets are convenient starting points, not official specifications for any particular exam or government department.

Cropping can cut off part of a signature or photograph. Choose Fit inside to preserve all content, or Fill when an edge crop is acceptable. To meet an additional KB limit, use the image compressor after resizing.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Photo & Signature Resizer FAQs

Which signature dimensions should I use?

Follow the width and height listed on your specific portal. A preset such as 300 × 80 pixels is only an example, not a universal requirement.

Will Filefit automatically remove a photo background?

No. The resizer changes dimensions and layout; it does not automatically remove a background.

Can I avoid cropping my signature?

Yes. Choose Fit inside. This preserves the entire image, potentially adding space around it.
