Which image format should you choose?
JPG is usually practical for photographs and can provide smaller file sizes, but it cannot preserve transparent backgrounds. PNG supports transparency and is often best for screenshots, diagrams and signatures. WebP can be efficient for websites, although some application portals do not accept it.
Converting a small image to PNG will not recover detail that was already lost. Check the accepted formats on the destination website before converting, and inspect the downloaded result if transparency or accurate colors matter.
